Closing Sirocco

So last Sunday we brought the curtain down on three years of regular chill-out parties - thanks to those who came to enjoy the fine tuneage from Johnny, Peter, Ben, Andy and Joseph.

Thanks are due to our hosts Ryo at Nexus, Ken at Beach Bar Asia, Naoki at Nesia, Traci at The Pink Cow, and Taki at Sound Market; to guest performers Ryu, Akane and Iyo-san; to Ethan, Greg and Bev, who performed live as Cat-a-Tonic at our final Nesia evening; and to guest DJs Dan, Johnny, Bev, Andy, Ben, Guillaume, Etienne and Nobu. Last and largest, a big thanks to Adrian for helping us get it going in the first place.

It's been a fun time; we've enjoyed holding Sirocco, and we do hope to continue with occasional one-off events. Peter's belly-dancing friends like the idea of performing at the beach bars over the summer, so watch this space to see what happens with that.

Peace

More Pink Cow

Happy New Year!

Thanks to those who came to Sirocco at The Pink Cow just before New Year's. It was a very groovy night with chilled tunes from Joseph and Peter, live music from Jin and LouStar, and video art by Jesse, and a fine time was had by all.

Peter will be playing there again this coming Sunday for their 'Art Blender' event - Jesse will be there with more video art, there'll also be burlesque dancing from N@n@ and live music too. Plus of course the fine food and drinks from the bar. Directions and details are on www.thepinkcow.com, so please come down and enjoy a relaxed and eclectic night.

Peace.

New Year Sirocco

First, thanks to all those who joined us at Sound Market last month for the autumn Sirocco. It was a fine night with a goodly number of friendly, happy people, and the DJs were able supported by the singing plant on the table near the screen. We took kind of a relaxed attitude towards using the recorder, so Peter and Joseph's sets are lost to history, but they were ace.

Onwards. As we did last year, we're taking Sirocco to The Pink Cow in Shibuya on 29th December for a night of chilled tunes, live music and various other artistic goings-on. The full line-up hasn't been confirmed yet but it'll be a good night, with fine food (Pink Cow burritos are rightly celebrated) and fine drinks in a unique, relaxed setting. Check www.thepinkcow.com for directions and a map, details of the line-up as it unfolds, and a schedule of all their other groovy events. We'll look forward to seeing you there.

Sunday at The Pink Cow

Hello,

Just a quick note to say that Peter will be spinning a few tunes at The Pink Cow on Sunday 14th November for their 'art blender' event. This is an eclectic night of music, dance, spoken word and performance art, and free! See www.thepinkcow.com for more information.

Peace.

November Sirocco

Hello,

It looks like typhoon season has finally ended, so here's hoping we'll for once get a pleasantly warm, sunny autumn.

In a break with the norm, the next Sirocco will be on Monday 22nd November, the evening before the national holiday. Same time, 7:02pm, and same place, Sound Market in Fujisawa, with the same relaxed atmosphere and welcoming vibe as ever.

On a different tip, Peter will be DJing at Japan Music Week's 'UK Bristol Nite', held at Rockwest in Shibuya on Saturday 13th November. The event runs from 5pm to 9pm, and Peter will be playing sometime in the second half, depending on when he gets there.

Hope to see you at one or both. Peace.

September Sirocco

Hello,

Today is the first rainy day for about a month in Shonan, bringing some welcome respite from the relentless heat. You can find more relaxation on a couple of dates this month... first, on Sunday 12th, Peter will be DJing from around 7:00pm at The Pink Cow in Shibuya at their Art Blender event, a gathering of artists, performers, VJs, film-makers and other creative types. There'll also be live music and live painting along with the groovy but mellow tunes: see www.thepinkcow.com for details and directions.

Then, on Sunday 19th, is the next Sirocco at Sound Market in Fujisawa: Peter, Joseph and possibly a guest DJ will dispense chilled friendly vibes, while Taki-san and Miyoko-san provide tasty food and good drinks. We start at 7:02pm, finish around midnight, and the cover is Y500.

Finally, here are some pictures from my summer trip to Okinawa, to create a relaxed frame of mind... peace.

Anniversary Party - free!

Hello,

The February and April Sirocco nights at Sound Market were nice and chilled, but next time is a celebration... June 20th is our second anniversary! Time flies - a truism as well as a great tune by Orbital.

Starting at 19:02 or so, it'll be Peter and Joseph playing mellow electronica, sweet ambient and blissed psy-chill, and there'll be no cover charge this time, so you can spend the Y500 on one of Taki-san's lush cocktails instead.

See you on the couch. Peace.

Hello,

The anniversary Sirocco was a success, a select crowd enjoying a very relaxed night at Sound Market, chilling on the couch. It also garnered a review from Des Laughton, chronicler of the Shonan scene, which you can read at http://www.seekjapan.jp/article/2133/The+Road+to+Sirocco.

We'll try to get pictures and one or two of the DJ sets posted soon too.

There'll be a little summer break, so the next Sirocco at Sound Market will be held on Sunday 20th September. However, we'll try and do something at one of the beach bars again this year.

Thanks to all who came down to Sound Market, as ever, it was a friendly, happy crowd that made the night a pleasure. Hope to see you soon.

Anniversary party!

Hello!

We survived a year! The anniversary Sirocco will be held on Sunday 14th June at our new home of Sound Market, from 7:02pm to midnight.

There`ll be Peter and Joseph on decks, joined by special guest DJ Dante (push.. and Organika) ... Hope to see you there to create, and savour, the chilled atmosphere we know and enjoy.

I have also uploaded a similar (but longer & no attempt to link the other sets) set I played earlier in the month. For that paste this link into your browser -> http://www.sendspace.com/file/q6efzh

The next Sirocco will be on 8th February, same place, same time... hope you can make it down.
